The fire, which started around 4 am, erupted at the MRR Private Limited unit, a factory known for manufacturing export-quality bath mats and rugs. The unit is owned by Ramesh Verma, who also serves as the president of the Handloom Exports Manufacturer Association.
The factory had been closed after the Sunday morning shift. A security guard on duty noticed the flames and immediately alerted the factory owner and fire brigade.
Due to the intensity of the blaze, a total of 10 fire tenders from Panipat and Samalkha were deployed to the site. Firefighters battled the flames for over four hours before managing to bring the situation under control. The exact cause of the fire is not known.
Amit Kumar, a leading fireman at the scene, said the factory, a single-storey structure, was completely engulfed by the fire. “All the manufactured goods, including rugs, bath mats, machinery, and yarn, were destroyed in the fire,” he said.
