During the meeting, which lasted for around three hours on Wednesday evening, Gupta reviewed various infrastructure projects, including water supply and sewerage systems, installation of tubewells, construction and repair of roads, renovation of cremation grounds, cleaning of stormwater drainage lines, CC road construction, public toilet installation, development of community centres, installation of high-mast lights, beautification and renovation works, installation of swings, gazebos, plantations, and open-air gyms in parks, replacement of manhole covers and development of slipways.

She emphasised making city roads pothole-free and directed officials to take immediate action on complaints related to sewer overflow, streetlights and maintenance of park. She stressed that the residents should not face any inconvenience regarding basic amenities.

With the monsoon season approaching in three months, she instructed officials to complete preparations in advance. She directed the timely cleaning and desilting of major drains, including Karna Canal and Drain Number 1, to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains.

Highlighting the importance of quality in development works, the Mayor instructed the engineers to maintain strict monitoring and ensure proper sampling of construction materials. She warned that contractors failing to meet quality standards would face blacklisting. Additionally, she asked the engineers to conduct regular field visits instead of limiting themselves to office work, ensuring transparency and efficiency in project execution.

To enhance public convenience, she suggested displaying the name and contact details of contractors outside parks so that residents could directly reach them for the repair of swings and gym equipment.

She directed engineers to ensure that all projects with approved work orders were completed within the stipulated timeline. The contractors failing to deliver quality work will be debarred, and alternative agencies will be engaged to prevent delays.

Gupta further instructed that special attention should be given to major projects and those announced under the Chief Minister’s commitments. With summer already setting in, she also stressed the need for an uninterrupted drinking water supply for the city residents.
