Mayor inspects colonies in Y’nagar, Jagadhri

Mayor Suman Bahamani visited several colonies in Wards 6, 8, 11 and 17 of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Walking through the streets, she closely inspected the cleanliness system and reviewed the progress of ongoing development works. She also interacted with residents and heard their grievances.

On Wednesday, the Mayor inspected sanitation and development works in Wards 8 and 17, checked the quality of material being used in road and lane construction in Ward 8 and reviewed the renovation of the Dussehra Ground, being carried out at a cost of Rs 53.23 lakh. She also examined sanitation arrangements in Patel Nagar (Ward 17).

During her visit to Ward 11 on Tuesday, she found several drains were not clean. She directed officials of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, to issue a show-cause notice and take action against the contractor concerned for the collapse of the walls of Valmiki Dharamshala and a chaupal in the ward. She asked the engineering branch to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter.

In Munda Majra village, she inspected a drain near Kheda Temple on Chitta Mandir Road and, finding it unclean, instructed sanitation officials to issue a show-cause notice to the responsible employees.

In Gadhauli colony, she listened to residents’ concerns, while in Darwa Majri village she directed the repair of a collapsed chaupal wall. She also inspected an Anganwadi centre and ordered repairs.

The Mayor further reviewed cleanliness in Madhur Colony and other localities, and inspected Chhoti Line, Shankar Colony and Durga Garden in Ward 6.

Appealing to residents to support the Haryana City Swachhta Abhiyan under the guidance of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, she urged people to keep their surroundings clean.
