Mayor interacts with diarrhoea affected families in Mukarabpur
Mayor Suman Bahamani visited Mukarabpur village on Wednesday to meet residents affected by a diarrhoea outbreak.
She interacted with the families, as well as officials from the Public Health Engineering Department, Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) and the Health Department, to assess the situation. She instructed them to repair leaking water pipelines and resolve other issues without delay.
The Mayor also spoke to Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, requesting arrangements for proper treatment of patients in the civil hospital.
A Health Department survey on Monday found 65 residents suffering from diarrhoea, with eight admitted to private hospitals. Officials now say the situation is under control.
Accompanied by Ward-3 Municipal Councillor Jayant Swami, the Mayor toured the village, speaking directly with elderly residents, women and youths. Villagers reported that they had long complained of impurities in drinking water, but the situation had recently worsened.
Bahamani issued strict instructions to ensure the immediate supply of clean water, saying, “Every person in the village is a part of our family. Their problems are our own problems. We will try our best to provide clean water and better sanitation facilities as soon as possible, so that such a situation does not arise again.”
She also directed the Health Department to set up a medical camp to treat all affected residents.
SDO (Public Health Engineering) Sanjeev Rohilla, SDO Kanwar Sunny Singh, MCYJ Sanitation Inspector Amit Kamboj, Junior Engineer Gagan Sandhu, doctors and officials from other departments were present.
