In a significant development in the MBBS exam scam at Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak (UHSR), the name of a female student from another private medical college in the state has surfaced. This institution is different from the one whose 24 MBBS students were named in the FIR on February 15, following a complaint from the UHSR security officer regarding exam malpractices.

So far, three UHSR employees have been arrested in connection with the scam.

According to sources, one of the arrested accused revealed during police interrogation that the answer sheet of a female student from a different private medical college was smuggled out immediately after her 2023 exam. “The answer sheet was reattempted at the house of a UHSR employee before being re-submitted to the university, with assistance from the student section assistant and a peon from the secrecy branch,” the sources said.

This is the first time a student from another private college has come under scrutiny in the scam. However, an earlier written complaint submitted to UHSR in January had hinted that students from multiple colleges may have been involved, aided by UHSR employees. At the time, investigators lacked sufficient evidence to extend their probe beyond UHSR students.

Sources confirmed that this newly implicated private medical college is the same institution whose MBBS student recently filed a formal complaint with the Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER). The complaint is currently being investigated by a committee led by PGIMS Additional Director Subhita Dhaka.

“With the involvement of another student from this college, it is expected that UHSR authorities and the police will widen their investigation to include more students from this institution. The latest development suggests a larger network of malpractice that may extend across the state,” the sources added.
