MBBS exam scam: Students ‘rewrote’ answer sheets at employee’s house
Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, has taken swift action after an MBBS exam scam surfaced. The scam allegedly involved students re-writing answer sheets at the home of a university employee.
Five employees transferred
- A three-member inquiry committee has been formed for a thorough investigation
- Answer sheets allegedly re-written at an employee’s home
- Students used erasable ink pens and textbooks for rewriting
- Five employees transferred, two suspended and three outsourced staff terminated
Sources revealed a video showing students seated on a bed and chairs, re-writing answer sheets under the supervision of the employee. The footage, mentioned in a complaint by an MBBS student, is now part of the investigation. The students allegedly used erasable ink pens, which they erased with hair dryers and re-wrote the answers using textbooks.
The malpractice also included bypassing rules where invigilators must cross-mark all blank pages in answer sheets post-exam to prevent tampering.
Acknowledging the scam, Dr Aggarwal told The Tribune, “Anyone found involved in the racket will not be spared and stern action will be taken. We have already suspended two employees and discontinued the services of three outsourced staff members pending the inquiry.”
In response to the scandal, the Vice-Chancellor has transferred five employees directly associated with the examination branch and directed them to cooperate with the inquiry. A three-member fact-finding committee, led by Dr MK Garg, Director of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, has been constituted to probe the matter. Other members include Dr Sukhdev Chandla, Professor Incharge, IT cell, UHS, and Dr Arun Kumar, Professor Incharge, Recruitment and Establishment Branch, UHS.
“The students seen in the video will be questioned by the committee. Strict measures are being taken to ensure this incident does not recur,” Dr Aggarwal added.
