The suspended staffers, Jitender Kumar, a junior programmer, and Sonu, a clerk, were arrested for allegedly leaking question papers in 2024. The papers were reportedly leaked from a centre located on the campus.

The suspension orders were issued on Tuesday by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof HK Aggarwal, based on a formal communication from the district police.

With these, the number of UHSR staff suspended so far has risen to eight. Two employees, Roshan Lal and Rohit, have been dismissed, and the services of nine outsourced staffers have been terminated till pending inquiry.

Sources said one of the key accused revealed during interrogation that the employees leaked the papers on May 15, 17 and 19, 2024, by clicking images from mobile phones.

“The images were shared via WhatsApp with racketeers, who forwarded them to those impersonating examinees. They allegedly wrote the answer sheets at the house of a university employee in a local housing society. The forged sheets were then swapped with the originals inside the university’s secrecy branch, allegedly with insider assistance,” claimed the sources.

Six other suspended employees had recently been served chargesheet. “I have requested additional supporting documents from the university authorities regarding the charges. We have been given 15 days to submit our replies,” said a suspended staff member.

Prof Aggarwal confirmed the suspensions and reaffirmed the university's commitment to accountability. “The university is treating this matter with seriousness. No official involved in illegal activities will be spared,” he added.
