In the wake of the recent MBBS exam scam, the authorities at Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences Rohtak (UHSR) have tightened the exam protocols. The university has shifted the supplementary practical exam centres for five private medical colleges located in different districts.
The practical exams, previously held at the respective private institutions, will now be conducted at nearby government medical colleges following the conclusion of the theoretical exams on April 26.
Sources said the move came after students from two private medical colleges were allegedly implicated in the MBBS exam scandal, in which answer sheets were smuggled out of the university’s secrecy branch with the help of employees, re-attempted, and re-submitted to secure passing marks.
A formal communiqué in this respect has recently been issued by the UHSR Controller of Examinations’ office to the Directors of PGIMS-Rohtak, SHKM Government Medical College, Nalhar (Mewat), and Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal.
The department heads at the government institutions have been asked to coordinate with external examiners and schedule the practical exams in order of merit or sequence. They are also required to finalise examiner panels and notify the private colleges accordingly, said the sources.
All practical exams must be completed by May 10, and the results should be uploaded on the university's portal immediately, the communiqué said.
Confirming the development, Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor, UHSR, said, “We are committed to upholding transparency and the credibility of exams by addressing every potential loophole.”
