MC launches drive to curb open littering, use of banned plastic
Rohtak municipal authorities have launched a drive to curb open littering and the use of banned single-use plastic in the city. Rohtak Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dharmender Singh said area residents, especially shopkeepers, had been requested to not litter their surroundings, or use banned plastic products.
The sanitation officials concerned had been instructed to issue challans to violators, he added. “A municipal corporation team recently conducted an inspection, and issued challans to those found littering in the open or using banned plastic. Two challans of Rs 2,000 each were issued for littering, and four challans of Rs 4,000 each for using single-use/banned plastic products,” he said.
The Commissioner added that MC teams would conduct regular inspections in the city, and keep issuing challans the violators. “Officials of the sanitation wing have also been instructed to ensure cleanliness by conducting continuous inspections in the city,” he said.
Mechanical sweeping machines were being used to clean the main roads of the city, he added.
