Yamunanagar, February 28

The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has launched a special drive to remove illegal publicity material, including hoardings, flex boards, posters and banners, installed at various locations in the twin cities.

An MC team removed illegal hoardings, flex boards and banners from the Railway road, starting from Agrasen Chowk to the railway station, Model Town, Govindpuri road, Jagadhri bus stand, Madhu Chowk, Pyara Chowk, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Mahavir Chowk, Nehru Park and several other public places on Tuesday.

After removing the illegal publicity material, the team loaded those goods in a vehicle and took them to the corporation’s warehouse. MCYJ Assistant Engineer Rajesh Sharma said the hoardings and flex boards collected by the civic body had been installed illegally on streetlight poles, various chowks, walls of parks and other public places, deteriorating the beauty of twin cities.

He added that the MCYJ had been suffering financial losses due to illegal publicity material. “Some locations have been earmarked by the corporation for publicity. People can put up their hoardings and promotional materials at these places by paying the prescribed fees to the MCYJ,” said Sharma.

He added: “If anyone puts up illegal hoardings in the city without the permission of the corporation, action will be taken against them.” He said the drive had been started on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha and it would be continued in the future as well.
