4 rice mills sealed in Karnal

The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has sealed four rice mills allegedly for not delivering the custom milled rice (CMR) to the government in the past six to seven years. They had not delivered the CMR worth Rs 18.87 crore to the government.

Giving details, Nishant Kumar Rathi, DFSC, said they had sealed Ashirwad Food, Karnal, which had failed to deliver the rice worth Rs 7,52,24,098 since 2013-14, while Chaudhary Food, Kunjpura, had not delivered rice worth Rs 3,60,99,074 since 2015-16. He said similarly, Aanpurna Agro Food, Karnal, had failed to deliver rice worth Rs 5,05,76,298 since 2014-15.

The DFSC further stated that Krishna Food had not delivered rice worth Rs 2,68,11,617 since 2014-15.“We had served them notices, but they did not show interest in the delivering the rice to the government, forcing us to take this step,” said the DFSC.
