After sealing 17 properties in the past 15 days, now the authorities of the Municipal Corporation (MC), Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, have decided to seal 25 more properties as the owners of these properties failed to pay property tax.

These property owners reportedly owed more than Rs 5 lakh each to the MC.

“We are taking action by sealing the properties of defaulters who do not pay the outstanding property tax. In the first phase, properties are being sealed of those defaulters who owe more than Rs 5 lakh property tax to the MCYJ,” said Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha.

He said that the teams of the MCYJ would soon seal 25 more properties, whose owners didn’t pay property tax.

“To avoid sealing action, the defaulters should pay their property tax as soon as possible. If any property tax defaulter is unable to pay the entire property tax at once, he can deposit 50 per cent the first time and deposit the remaining tax in two instalments,” said Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha.

He said that the MCYJ had issued notices to the defaulters a few days ago.

He said that most of the commercial and industrial units were included in the list which had been issued these notices.

He added that after issuance of notices, some people had deposited the tax and some people had responded to the notice.

“But, some tax defaulters have neither deposited the tax, nor have they responded to the notices. The MCYJ has now started sealing properties of such tax defaulters,” said Ayush Sinha.

He said that after taking action against tax defaulters of more than Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh property tax, action would be taken against tax defaulters who owed more than Rs 1 lakh tax to the MCYJ.

“To avoid the sealing action, the tax defaulters should take the notices seriously and deposit their outstanding property tax as early as possible,” said Ayush Sinha.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Vijay Pal Yadav has formed two teams to seal properties in Jagadhari and Yamunanagar zones.
