MC seals four properties in Yamunanagar zone
The Municipal Corporation (MC), Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, has sealed four properties, including a shopping mall, in Yamunanagar zone as the owners of these properties had failed to pay property tax.
These four defaulters owe a total property tax of Rs 38,33,211 to the MC and these persons fall in the category of property holders who owe more than Rs 5 lakh of property tax to the MC.
A team headed by Regional Taxation Officer Ajay Walia sealed four properties, including three commercial properties in Yamunanagar zone, on Monday for not depositing the outstanding property tax.
The MC team first reached Gadhauli village, where the team sealed the property of a resident, who owed a property tax of Rs 7,68,970.
After sealing this property, the team reached a shopping mall, located on the Govindpuri road, and sealed this property. A total of Rs 16,04,054 tax was due on this property.
After this, the team of the MC reached near Kanhaiya Sahib Chowk, where the team sealed a commercial property. The owner of this property owed a property tax of Rs 5,35,366.
Similarly, the MC team sealed a commercial property located in Friends Colony. A total of Rs 9,24,819 tax was due on this property.
After sealing these properties, the MC team pasted warning notices on all properties that if the seal was tampered with or opened without the permission of the Municipal Corporation, legal action would be initiated.
Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner of the MC, said that the final notice was issued to all defaulters a few days ago, but they neither deposited their property tax nor gave any reply to the notice, following which the sealing action was taken.
“The MC has started a process of sealing properties of property tax defaulters. A few days ago, the properties of four defaulters of Jagadhri zone had been sealed. Now, the MC has sealed four properties in Yamunanagar zone,” said Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner of the MC.
He said that some property holders had deposited the property tax, while some had started paying tax in instalments, but there were still many property holders who were not paying property tax.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Vijay Pal Yadav said that in the first phase, action was being taken to seal the properties of those property tax defaulters, who were having more than Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh property tax.
