MC starts drive to rid Bhiwani’s Ward 17 of monkeys

Residents of the town will soon get relief from the monkey menace. Following requests from municipal councillors, the Municipal Council has roped in an agency to catch the monkeys and a campaign has been launched.

The Municipal Council carried out operations in Ward17, capturing several monkeys. The residents of the area expressed relief after the drive. Various areas of the town will be covered under the drive, said Bhawani Pratap Singh, an MC member, leading the drive.

The operation was conducted in the morning across different parts of Ward 17 as the Councillors Subhash Tanwar and Sandeep Yadav were present there. They urged the authorities to continue the drive until the area was free of monkeys. Around 20 monkeys were caught and placed in cages.

The councillors stated that the entire town was troubled by the growing monkey menace. They had raised concerns with the Municipal Council authorities. Following this, a tender was issued to capture the animals.

Bhawani Pratap Singh said the monkeys were attacking people in various parts of the town. The councillors had also complained about the increasing incidents of attack by the monkeys after which the MC decided to embark on the drive, he said.
