Gurugram MC to plant 5.5L trees, shrubs this monsoon

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has begun an exercise to plant 5.50 lakh trees and shrubs in parks, green belts and community centres during this monsoon.
Under this campaign,the Vice-Chairman of Haryana Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Advisory Board Bodhraj Sikri, along with RWAs and locals, planted 150 saplings of various species of trees near the Jharsa Dam on Thursday.
Earlier this week, at least 5,000 saplings of trees were planted in the Sector 21 area with the help of locals, while 100 saplings were planted with the help of police officers and employees at the Mahila Thana Palam Vihar, Gurugram.
In the coming weeks, trees and shrubs would also be planted along roads in the residential and commercial sectors, near water bodies, cremation grounds, drains, urban forests, railway tracks, STPs, schools and colleges, said officials.
