MC to spend Rs 47.3 crore on open air theatre, auditorium at Jagadhri

The Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) will construct an open air theatre and an auditorium at a cost of Rs 47.34 crore. These projects will be constructed on the vacant land of the MCYJ near Sector 17, Jagadhri.

To come up in Sector 17

  • The projects will be constructed under Divya Nagar Scheme of Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) in Sector 17 of Jagadhri
  • The open air theatre will have a seating capacity of 500 people. It will also have make-up and other rooms for artistes. Behind the open air theatre will be an auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000 people
  • There will be a parking facility at the entrance and the back side of the open air theatre and the capacity of the parking lot will be 300 cars. CCTV cameras will also be installed at both facilities

Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha said: “The MCYJ will construct an open air theatre and an auditorium near Sector 17 of Jagadhri at a cost of Rs 47,33,71,000. A tender has been floated tender for the projects. As soon as the tender gets allotted, the assigned agency will have to complete these works within 30 months.”

According to information, these projects will be constructed under the Divya Nagar Scheme of the Municipal Corporation. For these projects, a 5.45-acre vacant land has been identified between Sector 17 of Jagadhri and Gurunanak Pura Colony of Yamunanagar.

The open air theatre will have a seating capacity of 500 people. It will also have make-up and other rooms for artistes. Behind the open air theatre, there will be an auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000 people.

There will be a parking facility at the entrance and the rear of the open air theatre and the capacity of the parking lot will be 300 cars. CCTV cameras will also be installed at both facilities.

“Until now, all social, cultural, religious, political and other programmes were being held in educational institutions, dharamshalas and hotels in the district. Even Republic Day celebrations and Independence Day events would take place either at the Tejli Sports complex or at the Jagadhri grain market. After the construction of these facilities, such programmes will be organised there,” said an official

of the MCYJ.

Commissioner Sinha said interested agencies could fill the tender till March 11. He added that the residents of the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri would benefit greatly with the coming up of these projects. “This will be the first such open air theatre in the city,” said Sinha.
