Faridabad, December 4
The Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has issued a notice to the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) and the HSVP over the release of sewage in open plots in the industrial area here. The authorities concerned have been asked to submit their reply on or before January 22.
The notice has been issued in response to a complaint lodged by the women cell of the Hind Majdoor Sabha recently wherein it was alleged that sewer and chemical water released in vacant plots was leading to severe health issues among labourers and workers employed in the 400 factories or manufacturing units located here.
“As the dirty water remains accumulated in the area round the clock, its stagnation has led to spread of diseases such as dengue and malaria. People working in the nearby factories and residing in colonies here are the most affected,” said the complaint filed on November 20.
It is alleged that while the matter had been taken up with the MCF, HSVP and the Faridabad Industries Association (FIA) several times in the past one year, the problem persisted.
