Gurugram, August 5
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has asked the Gurugram police Commissioner to register an FIR against two contractors of the civic body who failed to maintain the sewerage system in Badshahpur village causing insanitary conditions, stagnation of dirty water on roads and overflow of drains, which also led to several accidents during the ongoing monsoon season in the past few weeks.
The executive engineer of MC Zone 4 Sanjeev Kumar has revealed that the civic body gave a contract for the maintenance of sewerage system in Tyagiwada, Badhshapur village to Suresh Kumar but he failed to do so.
Similarly, another contractor Maxworth Infratech, was given the work of operation and maintenance of sewerage motor. However, no action led to the accumulation of dirty water on the streets and roads in the Tyagiwada area.
The engineer claimed that the MCG authorities asked the contractors to do their duties as per the expectations of local residents but they did not listen. Later, they switched off their mobile phones. All efforts to contact them proved futile.
Choked sewers in several parts of Badshahpur had resulted in the flooding of streets with sewage, making life miserable for residents. “This is sheer negligence on part of the contractors,” an MCG official maintained.
The situation worsened in the heavy rains that lashed the city in the past couple of weeks. The residents blamed the MC authorities for this mess, which tarnished the image of the civic body.
Sanjeev, in his letter, asked the Commissioner to register an FIR against the erring contractors for creating public nuisance, causing accidents and sullying the image of the civic body.
Meanwhile, the problem of sewerage overflow in Tyagiwada Mohalla of Badshahpur village has been resolved by the MC authorities. The engineer said assistant engineer Ashish Hooda and junior engineer Arif Khan of the area concerned reached the spot and arranged the necessary equipment and machinery and drained out the dirty water from the roads and streets.
