The decision was taken at the meeting of the executive committee of the association held on the university premises on Monday. The meeting was presided over by the association president Raj Kumar Sharma.

The association has also called a meeting of its general house on Tuesday in the administrative block of the university to get the approval of the election schedule.

“The executive committee of the association, while discussing election related issues in detail, resolved to conduct the annual election on October 28, three days before the end of tenure of the present body of the association. We will send the election schedule to the university administration on Tuesday for further action,” Sharma told The Tribune.

He informed that the candidates would be able to file nominations for the five posts of office-bearers, including president, vice president, general secretary, joint secretary and cashier, and 21 posts of members of the executive committee on October 24 and October 25. The process of nomination withdrawal and allotment of symbols would be completed on October 25 post-lunch, he added.

Sharma further maintained that his group named ‘Swabhiman Manch’ had also decided its candidates for the five posts of office-bearers.

“Anil Malhtora will be the candidate for the post of president, Dharmendra Sharma for vice president, Ajmer Singh for general secretary, Deepak Saini for joint secretary and Vijay Pal Dhankar will contest the election for the post of cashier. A total of 720 electors will exercise their franchise in the elections,” he claimed, adding that they had already started their canvassing for seeking votes from the employees.

Similarly, other groups of employees too have either finalised names of their candidates or are in the process of finalising them.
