Dr Krishan Kant Gupta has assumed charge as the Registrar of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak. His appointment was approved by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. Vice- Chancellor Professor Rajvir Singh welcomed Dr Gupta and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute significantly to the university’s academic and administrative progress.
'Controversy over suspension baseless'
Regarding a reported controversy surrounding a suspension order allegedly issued against him by the management of Aggarwal College in April 2024, Dr Gupta dismissed the claims as “bogus and wrong.”
He clarified that he had taken voluntary retirement (VRS) from his position and said, “The action regarding the reported suspension order was baseless, with no allegations proven against me so far.”
Expressing his gratitude, Dr Gupta thanked the Governor, Chief Minister and the Vice-Chancellor for entrusting him with this responsibility. “I will ensure that I live up to the expectations of the authorities concerned and leave no stone unturned in performing my duties to help the university attain new heights in the academic field,” he said.
Dr Gupta, who has an extensive academic and administrative background, has been recognised for his contributions to education. He has been honoured thrice by the Governor of Haryana and the Vice-Chancellor of MDU Rohtak. His accolades include the Best Principal Award and the National Education Excellence Award.
With over 34 years of experience, Dr Gupta served as Principal of Aggarwal PG College, Ballabhgarh, from August 24, 2009, to May 2, 2024. A doctorate in Physics, he has an impressive research record, with over 341 publications, including 92 in national and international journals. He has also participated in 116 national and international conferences and seminars, chairing over 46 technical sessions.

Devender Gupta, president of the governing body of Aggarwal College, Ballabhgarh, also downplayed the controversy, stating that the issue had become irrelevant. He extended his best wishes to Dr Gupta, saying, “I am happy to learn about his appointment as the new Registrar of MDU Rohtak and extend my greetings on this occasion.”
