Sonepat: Medical experts dwell on measures to curb dental trauma, oral cancer
Sonepat, February 11
The eighth conference of the Association of oral and maxillofacial surgeons of India (AOMSI), Haryana chapter, led by Dr Sunil Yadav and his organising team, was held at BPS Government Medical College for Women in Khanpur Kalan on Sunday.
Dr JC Dureja, Director of the medical college, and chief guest at the conference, encouraged dental practitioners and student delegates to engage in a nationwide awareness campaign titled ‘Sanjeevani’.
The campaign is aimed at curbing dental trauma and oral cancer. Dr Bhagvan Das Rai, national president of AOMSI, emphasised the significance of international day celebrations and the launch of Sanjeevani programme, in collaboration with the IDA, to train dental surgeons in medical emergency management from February 11 to 29.
Dr Sunil Yadav, professor and head of the department of dentistry, highlighted the campaign’s objectives of connecting AOMSI members and dental colleagues in the state, introducing oral cancer screening and promoting prevention and early intervention of potentially malignant disorders.
Dr Nageshwar Iyer, the founding president of the AOMSI Haryana chapter, had established the chapter in October 2014, underscoring the importance of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The official newsletter of the Haryana chapter, Maxfax, was also released during the conference. Speakers and panelists, including senior dignitaries and colleagues from BPS institute, as well as delegates and postgraduates from various disciplines, attended the conference.
The conference provided a unique opportunity for participants to engage in discussions, share knowledge and learn from one another. More than 250 dignitaries, delegates and students from all districts of Haryana as well as neighbouring states participated in the conference.
