“The students, who were rounded up, failed to explain why were present at the farmhouse. We suspect a question paper leak racket was being run from the farmhouse and attackers belong to a rival group,” said Nuh SP Narender Bijarnia told The Tribune.

Foreign Medical Graduate Examination is a screening test for medical graduates from other countries to be eligible to practice in the country.

An investigating officer said the police got a call that the students, who had come to take coaching at a farmhouse on Hasanpur-Sabaras Road of Tawadu, were attacked by armed men.

“One amongst the students had revealed their location to the attackers. We suspect the attackers could be of a rival coaching centre. The fight was about leaked question paper and they had come to seek ransom,” said the investigating officer, adding the accused had come from Rajasthan’s Sikar. The police said mobile phones of the students had been taken away from them and kept at a separate room at the farmhouse.
