The meeting was chaired by Joint Director, Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) Hemant Verma and Government PG College Principal-cum-Joint Director Ajit Singh. The gathering brought together nodal officers and principals of more than 100 government and private colleges from the Ambala and Karnal divisions.

A college spokesman said that the meeting was convened as part of preparations for the NEP campaign, scheduled to be inaugurated on Swami Vivekananda Jayanti on January 12 by the Education Minister during a seminar at Kurukshetra University. The Education Minister will also unveil a dedicated portal and a suggestion box aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing the NEP implementation.

Joint Director, DHE, Hemant Verma said the meeting focused on fostering institutional collaboration, strategising NEP objectives and aligning efforts to promote holistic and multidisciplinary education. The principals and nodal officers engaged in discussions, sharing challenges, innovative ideas and actionable strategies. The meeting also featured deliberations on holistic and multidisciplinary education, internationalisation, equity and inclusion in higher education, promotion of Indian languages, arts and culture and strengthening teacher capacity through targeted training programmes.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a comprehensive roadmap for phased implementation of the NEP, targeting measurable outcomes in areas such as curriculum restructuring, faculty development and enhanced industry-academic partnerships. The suggestions received in the meeting will be further deliberated in a national round-table conference to be held next month. The roadmap sets December 2025 as the timeline for achieving these objectives.
