Members of 56 gram panchayats on exposure visit to Agra, Mathura

Fifty six gram panchayats’ sarpanches, including 21 women sarpanches and 35 men sarpanches of the district and officials, went to Mathura and Agra in Uttar Pradesh on a five-day visit under an exposure programme launched by the Development and Panchayat Department.

Krishan Lal Panwar, Minister for Development and Panchayat, on Thursday flagged off the exposure visit. The sarpanches and panchayat employees will get see the working of gram panchayats in Uttar Pradesh.

Panwar said the exposure visit would be from September 18 to 22 and the members would visit several gram panchayats in Mathura and Agra.

During the visit, the participants will be exposed to various innovative initiatives taken by the gram panchayats of Mathura and Agra, so that they can implement these good practices in the panchayats of Haryana, the minister added.

Panwar further said along with the panchayat members, 12 officials, including six women, had also been sent on the exposure visit, who would officially review their working styles.

The minister further said the participants would learn about the plastic waste treatment plants, special hospitals built for women, market built for self-help groups, park with outdoor gyms, Amrit sarovars, water supply, sewing centres for women, water tanks, old-age home for the elderly etc.

A state-level programme will be organised by the Development and Panchayat Department in Sonepat district in which Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will gift various development works of the department to the people of the state. Saini will inaugurate the gym, indoor sports stadium, Cultural centre for women, stadium and other facilities on September 22.

Dr Kiran Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, said separate buses for men and women were arranged for the visit. It was mandatory for all participants to carry their Aadhaar cards.

The team will first visit Nangla Chandrabhan village, Fara Block, Mathura, and Fatiha village, the CEO added.
