Menstrual hygiene drive in Fatehabad

A menstrual hygiene awareness campaign was held recently at Dullat village, Bhuna, in Fatehabad under the Nutrition Month programme. The event aimed to teach women and adolescent girls about the importance of hygiene during menstruation, and how to prevent health risks.

The session was led by Sweety, a supervisor from the Women and Child Development Department. She said sanitary pads should be changed every 4-6 hours to prevent infections. She stressed the need to wash hands before and after using these.

Sweety advised the group of women to drink plenty of water and avoid junk food during menstruation. She said eating healthy food gave energy and helped reduce discomfort. She added that poor hygiene during menstruation could lead to serious illnesses and infections.

She exhorted all women and girls to take care of their health. Sweety shared information about the Mahila Evam Kishori Samman Yojana, a government scheme that provides free sanitary pads to schoolgirls from poor families.

The women of the village welcomed the campaign, and said more such programmes should be held regularly so that every woman and girl in the village could live a healthy and safe life.
