Meri Fasal portal sees tardy registration of rabi crops in state
The slow pace of registration of rabi crops on Meri Fasal, Mera Byora (MFMB) portal by farmers in some districts, including Hisar, Jind, Sonepat and Rohtak, has been a cause of concern for the Agriculture Department.
The registration on the portal is a must for the farmers to sell their produce in the grain market to avail of the MSP. The latest district-wise report on the portal indicated a total agricultural area of 89,85,431.81 acres till yesterday, which is 52.13% of the total sown area registered on the portal.
The portal will remain open till February.
The report reveals significant disparities in performance among districts, with Charkhi Dadri leading with 79.36% registration, while Faridabad was last with just 17.88% registration.
Among the top districts are Mahendragarh (71.98%), Bhiwani (66.75%), Rewari (65.71%), Karnal (60.80%), Faridabad (17.88%), Mewat (34.21%), Panchkula (34.75%) and Sonepat (35.93%). Hisar, one of the largest districts in terms of farmland area (8,89,666.6 acres), has registered 48.70% of its land. Fatehabad (53.02%) and Kaithal (51.80%) have moderate registration rates.
As of January 13, a total of 46,83,973 acres have been registered by 8,13,284 farmers statewide. The government introduced the portal to empower farmers by linking their land records with crop data. It facilitates timely access to government benefits, including MSP during procurement, crop insurance, and subsidies. It also promotes data-driven policymaking for farm development, sources said.
The Deputy Director of Agriculture (DDA), Dr Rajbir Singh, however, has issued a circular to the sub-divisional Agriculture Officers in the district to ensure registration of fields by motivating the farmers. He said it seemed that the field staff had not taken the task seriously. The DDA has given a target of 50 registrations from each village and told officials to organise awareness camps in villages.
