Mini-Secretariat firing: 3 arrested

A special detective unit of the Karnal police, led by Inspector Parveen Kumar, on Friday arrested three persons in connection with the recent gunfire incident that occurred near the Mini-Secretariat in Sector 12.

The accused have been identified as Harvinder Singh, alias Laddi, of Gharaunda; and Naveen, alias Laddi, and Dheeraj, residents of Jundla. The accused were arrested at Gharaunda, according to DSP Rajiv Kumar. The DSP said two unidentified bike-borne miscreants had fired at Harpreet Singh, aka Happy, a resident of Gharaunda, who was standing near a ‘fruit-chaat’ vendor after attending a court hearing. He, along with one Gurvinder Singh, sustained bullet injuries in the incident. A country-made pistol was used in the incident, said the DSP. During investigation, it was revealed that there had been a longstanding enmity between Harvinder and Harpreet. Harvinder had previously filed a case against Harpreet. As part of a planned act of revenge, Harvinder allegedly conspired with his associates Naveen and Dheeraj to carry out the shooting. The three accused executed the attack. All three suspects were apprehended on Friday and are being interrogated.
