Panipat, September 2
The BJP has yet to announce the ticket, but the candidates launched their campaigning at full pace in the Panipat Rural constituency. Confident of getting the party symbol for the third consecutive time, Panchayat Minister Mahipal Dhanda, with his supporters, organised a four-hour door-to-door campaigning near all 270 booths of his constituency on Sunday evening.
It was perhaps a one-of-its-kind door-to-door campaigning programme as it was conducted on a large level in a single day, and that too, before the announcement of candidates.
Minister Dhanda, along with his brother Harpal Dhanda, Shakti Kendra Pramukhs, booth presidents, Panna Pramukhs and other party workers, approached voters and appealed them to vote for the BJP in areas under all 270 booths from 6 pm to 10 pm on Sunday.
The party workers distributed pamphlets highlighting BJP’s welfare policies and the works done in the last two regimes of the BJP-led state government to voters.
The minister approached the voters in Ansal township and various colonies in Noorwala area while his brother approached the voters at booths in VidyaNand Colony.
Dhanda said the BJP had spent thousands of crores of rupees on various projects in Panipat Rural constituency. He said the life of people living in illegal colonies here was pitiful. The BJP understood the people’s genuine problems and decided to approve all colonies, after which sewer and water pipelines were laid in all colonies. Besides, the BJP had also fulfilled people’s demands for Panchayat Bhawan, chaupals, streets and drains in all villages.
Dhanda said the BJP was approaching people for vote only on the basis of the development works it had carried out in the last 10 years.
