Minister inaugurates night shelter in Badshahpur
Industry and Commerce, Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister of Haryana Rao Narbir Singh inaugurated a night shelter on the Darbaripur Road at Badshahpur here on Saturday.
After inaugurating the night shelter, built by the Municipal Corporation, he also addressed the concerns of the people present there and gave necessary instructions to officials concerned for their resolution.
He said night shelters were currently operational at various locations in Gurugram city. He directed the district administration to set up temporary night shelters at crowded places as per the need and requirements.
He said the state government, which was continuously working towards the uplift of the underprivileged, was committed to ensuring that no one was forced to sleep in the open in harsh and cold weather conditions.
He revealed that a sufficient number of night shelters had been established by the state government in every district. Charitable organisations also stepped forward to help the poor and homeless people.
He said: “It is the responsibility of everyone to stand with those in need during their distress”.
Rao Narbir said due to the continuous changes in weather, cold wave may persist for several more days. In this situation, people should take preventive measures for their health.
The Cabinet Minister said night shelters were currently being operated in Gurugram city at Railway Station Road, Kadipur, Bhim Nagar, Sohna Chowk, Rajiv Chowk and Community Centre, Kanhai, in addition to Darbaripur Road in Badshahpur.
He said: “It is our moral responsibility to take any economically disadvantaged, mentally ill persons or worker such as a labourer or rickshaw-puller found sleeping in the open to a night shelter”.
