Minister supports upgrading Rania tehsil to subdivision
Haryana’s Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa has written a letter supporting the upgrade of Rania Tehsil to a subdivision. He stated that based on the facts, standards and local conditions, it is important to promote Rania to the subdivision status in public interest as soon as possible. A copy of the letter has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sirsa for further necessary action.
In the letter, Gangwa mentioned that a delegation from the Bar Association of Rania recently met him at his office in Chandigarh. The delegation, led by Bar Association president Sewa Singh Sandhu, submitted a request to upgrade Rania Tehsil. The minister said their demand was justified and required serious consideration and quick action.
Reacting to the minister’s letter, Sewa Singh Sandhu thanked him and urged the district administration to forward the matter to the government without delay so that Rania could be officially declared a subdivision soon.
Earlier, on May 27, a delegation from the Rania Bar Association met several state ministers, including Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Pal Pawar, Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda and Cabinet Ministers Vipul Goel and Ranbir Gangwa. They submitted a memorandum requesting that the demand to upgrade Rania be included in the agenda of the official committee responsible for creating new districts and the subdivisions.
In response, Committee Chairman and Cabinet Minister Krishan Pal Pawar assured the lawyers that the issue would be included in the committee’s meeting agenda and efforts would be made to approve it soon.
Bar president Sewa Singh Sandhu also recalled that in 2019, the government had requested a feasibility report for the purpose. At that time, the DC of Sirsa had sent a letter to the Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner of Haryana’s Revenue and Disaster Management Department, recommending that Rania be granted the subdivision status.
Notably, Rania Tehsil has 55 village panchayats, four Kanungo (revenue officer) circles, and 44 Patwar (land record) circles. The population of the tehsil is also considered adequate to support its upgrade to a subdivision.
