Minister suspends Charkhi Dadri transport officer

Industries and Commerce Minister Mool Chand Sharma today suspended the Motor Vehicle Officer of the District Regional Transport Office in Charkhi Dadri district for negligence in performing duties and ignoring essential meetings during the hearing of complaints.

The minister was presiding over the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Dadri town.

A complainant said overloaded trucks were plying through Dadri town daily, causing damage to roads and endangering lives of other commuters, but no steps were being taken by the Regional Transport Office. The minister ordered the suspension of the MVO, stating that merely issuing challans was not a solution. Officers should strictly prohibit overloading of vehicles. He directed the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority to coordinate with adjacent districts for stringent enforcement of rules in this regard.
