Minister unveils statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in Rohtak
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi on Friday unveiled a life-size statue of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on the Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) campus here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Bedi said Dr Ambedkar’s multifarious contribution to the society and nation was exemplary.
“Baba Saheb was a light house of wisdom who enlightened the lives of millions of people. Not only in drafting of the Indian Constitution, but also in ensuring national integration, he had a stellar role. The whole nation is indebted to him for his contribution towards nation-building,” he added.
Prof Rajbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, said Dr Ambedkar was the real architect of the Indian Constitution. He was a crusader of the downtrodden, an advocate for the marginalised sectors of society, who battled for the cause of social justice.
Prof AS Maan, Dean, Academic Affairs, while delivering the welcome address threw light on Dr Ambedkar’s life and his contribution to the nation. MDU Registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja expressed the vote of thanks. Prof Divya Malhan (IMSAR) conducted the stage during the programme.
Dean, Students’ Welfare Prof Randeep Rana, HoD (Law) Dr Jitender Dhull, Dr Savita Rathee, Anju Dhiman were among those present on the occasion.
Earlier, floral tributes were paid on the statue of Dr Ambedkar as well as on his portrait during the programme. Distinguished citizens of Rohtak also attended the programme.
