Minister Vij directs MC officials to expedite projects in Ambala Cantt
State Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij, who is also MLA of Ambala Cantonment, today held a meeting with officials of the Municipal Council, Ambala Sadar, and directed them to expedite the ongoing projects in his area.
During the meeting at his residence, the minister enquired about the status of ongoing and pending projects and directed the officials concerned to expedite the works. He asked MC officials to improve sanitation in residential colonies, clean drains and public toilets and repair defunct streetlights.
The officials were told to complete the construction of culvert of Kabadi Bazar at the earliest, the work of laying a sewerage line, repair of damaged roads and installation of traffic lights on the Tangri Bundh road crossing on the Jagadhri road to ensure smooth traffic movement.
The minister issued directions to Municipal Council officials to connect all streetlights to the centralised control monitoring system, development works at Subhas Park and Capitol Chowk. Currently, around 13,500 streetlights are connected to the system.
Vij said, “With the construction of a road on Tangri Bundh, the traffic movement in this area on the Jagadhri road has increased. For the safety of public and to ensure smooth movement of traffic, there is a need to install traffic lights on the crossing here. Earlier, traffic lights were installed at various intersections on the Jagadhri road and it has helped in ensuring a smooth flow of traffic in the Sadar area. MC officials have been told to install traffic lights near the Tangri Bundh crossing road at the earliest. Various projects are underway in the Sadar area under the Municipal Council and officials have been asked to expedite ongoing projects.”
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Ambala Cantonment, Satinder Siwach, who also holds the charge of administrator of the Municipal Council, Executive Officer Ravinder Singh, Executive Engineer Mandeep Singh were among those present at the meeting.
