Taking strong note of the brutal incident in which two minor sisters were gangraped and killed by four men in Haryana’s Sonepat, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has sent a notice to the Haryana government to submit an action taken report.

To ensure that justice is provided to the victims, the commission, on the directions of its Chairman Vijay Sampla, sent notices to the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and DC and SP of Sonepat.

The commission asked the authorities to investigate the matter and to submit an immediate report through post or email, based on the facts and information on the action taken on the allegation/matter, before August 19.

Sampla cautioned the officers that if action taken report was not received within the stipulated time, then the commission might exercise the powers of the civil court conferred on it under article 338 of the Constitution of India and issue a summon for personal appearance before the commission in Delhi.

As per the information received by the NCSC, four men allegedly gangraped two minor sisters and then forced them to drink pesticide.

The mother of the victims, who was present at the spot during the incident, was threatened by the accused of dire consequences. Fearing the consequences, the mother hospitalised her two daughters at the hospital after claiming that a snake bit them.

The doctors of the hospital later confirmed that the girls were raped and had died due to pesticide poison and not snake bite.
