Minor’s rape suspect held

The police have arrested a person suspect of raping a minor girl in April last year. The victim who got pregnant, had delivered a baby in December last year.

A police official said here today that the suspect had been identified as Ranjan Kumar, aged around 30 years. Currently a resident of Tatarpur village in Palwal district, the suspect was nabbed on the basis of technical surveillance and inputs on Friday.

He said the suspect had allegedly raped a minor schoolgirl in April 2023, when she was returning from school to her home. It is alleged that the suspect gave her intoxicating substance on the pretext of temple ‘prasad’. The suspect later took her to a house and raped her. While a case was registered in response to a complaint lodged by the victim’s kin, the suspect had absconded.

An SIT, headed by ACP Tigaon, arrested the suspect after a raid recently. The suspect, who worked in a company at Prithla, had committed the crime on April 23 last year. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
