Yamunanagar, May 30
The bodies of two boys, who drowned in Western Jamuna Canal (WJC) on Friday, were found today.
The deceased have been identified as Saurav (16) and Sumeet (15), both residents of Camp area of Yamunanagar.
Saurav, Sumeet and Ankush alias Sonu, all friends and residents of Camp area, had left their homes on Friday afternoon telling their parents that they were going to play in the colony. However, they went to Hamida head, Yamunanagar, for a dip in WJC.
According to information, Ankush stood on the bank of the canal, but Saurav and Sumeet went into the canal for a dip.
Ankush shouted for help when he saw that Saurav and Sumeet had gone missing in the canal. But when no help came, he ran to their colony and informed their family members.
After getting information of the incident, the local administration pressed a team of divers comprising Amar Singh, Surinder Singh and Ramkesh into service to undertake rescue operations.
Diver Amar Singh said that the bodies were found from the WJC today and sent for post-mortem examination at Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar.
