The Congress MLA from Guhla Assembly segment, Devender Hans, has lodged a formal complaint with Speaker Harvinder Kalyan against Kaithal Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kalia for allegedly ignoring his phone calls during a public grievance hearing.
The incident, which dates back to December 2 and 3, involved the MLA reportedly trying to contact the SP over 20 times within two days to address an urgent public issue. Despite his repeated attempts, the SP did not respond or return the calls.
“I tried over 20 times, but the SP did not pick up the phone or call back. I am a public representative elected by 64,611 people, with a victory margin of 22,880 votes. I have accountability towards people of my constituency, which is why I filed a complaint with the Haryana Assembly Speaker,” he said.
Hans initially filed his complaint on December 4, but with no action taken, he followed up with the Speaker two days ago. As per the MLA, the Speaker assured him of an inquiry into the matter.
Sources indicated that the complaint had now been forwarded to the Protocol Committee of the Assembly for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Kalia refuted the allegations. “My intention was not wrong. The number was not saved in my contacts. Since there was no previous interaction, I was not aware of the MLA’s contact or activities,” he said.
