Mock drills to control riots organised in Kurukshetra
The Kurukshetra police organised a mock drill for the special companies formed to control riots in the district at Police Lines on Monday.
The Kurukshetra police have formed five companies for riot control and crowd management. Each company comprises three platoons with nearly 100 personnel. The commander of each company will be an officer of the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) rank, and the second commander will be an inspector rank official, while the platoon commander will be a sub-inspector rank official and the second commander an assistant sub-inspector rank official.
A Kurukshetra police spokesman said, “Following the directions of the Superintendent of Police Varun Singla, five companies have been formed, and a special riot control exercise was organised for these companies at Police Lines. During the exercise, instructions were issued to the personnel to keep their equipment in good condition. The personnel of each company will be in a call readiness position with lathi, teargas, and other equipment.”
These companies will act immediately in case of any communal violence or any kind of law and order situation. A WhatsApp group is being prepared to send an alert to all the personnel simultaneously so that they know where to report in case of an emergency situation and can bring the matter under control immediately, the spokesman said.
SP Varun Singla said the personnel will always be ready to deal with any situation. These companies have been formed to control any kind of riot or sit-in demonstration, agitation, as well as religious, communal, caste, or other types of violence in the Kurukshetra district.
