Monsoon over, begin road repair: Health Minister instructs officials
Health Minister Arti Singh Rao has directed officials to prioritise the repair of roads included in the district’s development agenda as the monsoon season has ended. She instructed that the repair work of all roads in the district be initiated without delay and that the construction of new roads should also begin promptly.
The minister was holding a meeting with district administrative officials in the Mini- Secretariat on Tuesday to review development works and public welfare initiatives related to the district. Rewari MLA Laxman Singh Yadav, Bawal MLA Dr Krishan Kumar, and other dignitaries were also present at the meeting.
At the meeting, the minister also stressed the importance of maintaining high quality construction materials used for road work. To address the issue of waterlogging, she reviewed the situation and was informed by the Public Health Department officials that pump sets had been installed in the affected areas and waterlogging was no longer expected.
Arti also ordered the officials of the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to remove encroachments from the Rezang La Park area. Additionally, she instructed that the ‘Solah Rahi’ and ‘Bada Talab’ sites at the district headquarters should be properly maintained, with plans to promote them as tourist and cultural destinations to offer a pleasant experience for visitors.
The minister further directed all departmental officials that for every construction project undertaken, a detailed information board must be installed at the site. “This board should include the project details, along with the names and contact numbers of the departmental officers concerned, to ensure transparency and public awareness,” she added.
During the review meeting on the Masani Barrage, Aarti directed that the Public Health and Irrigation Departments work together in a planned manner to ensure that clean water flowed into the barrage and that untreated sewage water from the Sewage Treatment Plant did not enter it.
Addressing the issue of stray cattle on roads, the Health Minister instructed the officials concerned to ensure that such cattle were relocated to gaushalas (cow shelters). She further stated that if any of the cattle were domesticated but had been left to roam freely on the streets, the respective livestock owners should first be warned. If they continued to evade the rules, appropriate legal action must be taken against them as per the law.
Arti stated that the Health Department was fully alert to prevent waterborne diseases following the monsoon season. “Adequate medicines have been supplied to all government hospitals across the state to tackle dengue and other seasonal illnesses. Additionally, instructions have been issued to carry out fogging operations in vulnerable areas to control mosquito breeding,” she added.
