More disgruntled leaders likely to join BJP
Several political leaders, including some disgruntled Congress leaders, are expected to join the BJP. This may prove beneficial in the election of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), and the municipal committee, Radaur.
A three-time former MLA and senior Congress leader, Dr Bishan Lal Saini, will hold a rally at the new grain market in Jagadhri on February 15 to join the Congress.
Saini community has a good vote bank in Yamunanagar district, which will influence the elections. Political observers said Saini had a strong grip on other communities also and a strong base of supporters.
In the last MC election, the BJP was victorious and senior party leader Madan Chauhan was elected Mayor. However, this time, the post of Mayor has been fixed for women candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste.
The MCYJ has 22 wards, which cover areas of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri and villages falling under the jurisdiction of the MC.
