Motor mechanics set to be shifted to newly constructed auto market

In the new year, people shall get relief from traffic jams in several areas of Yamunanagar city as the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), will soon shift motor mechanics to the newly constructed auto market in Chandpur Colony.

The MCYJ has constructed the auto market in Chandpur at a cost of Rs 3.16 crore.

According to information, with the opening of the auto market, the motor/vehicle repair shops running in Rampura, on the railway road, workshop road and other main markets and main roads of Yamunanagar will be shifted to the auto market in Chandpur.

“We are planning to shift shops of vehicle repair mechanics from several areas of Yamunanagar to the auto market, Chandpur. It will help to ease traffic congestion in several areas of Yamunanagar,” said Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha.

He said that they were also planning to shift vendors to vending zones built at several places in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri, including in Ganesh Nagar, Prakash Chowk and Shakti Nagar in near future.

“With the shifting of vendors in vending zones, people will get relief from traffic jams in the twin cities,” said Ayush Sinha.

He said that in 2025, various development works would be done in the newly approved 96 colonies.

He said that sewerage lines and drinking water pipelines would be laid in those colonies by the Public Health Department and the MCYJ would provide paved streets, underground drains and other facilities in those colonies.

“The MCYJ is preparing to start the process of regularising the unauthorised colonies, which have developed about 60 per cent. With these colonies becoming legal, development work will also be undertaken in those colonies,” said Sinha.

He said that the wait for the new office of the MCYJ would end in 2025.

“The building of the office of the MCYJ is very old. Now, the MCYJ is planning to construct a new building for the MCYJ office at a spacious place. This project will also get momentum in the new year,” said Ayush Sinha.

As per available information, the MCYJ has identified a place to build a new building of the MCYJ office near the mini-secretariat here and the construction work is likely to start this year.
