The DMC visited the drains in Chhota Bazaar, Pipli, and various sectors of the city, directing MC staff to ensure the proper cleaning of the drains.

Siwach said, “All arrangements are in place and efforts are being made to ensure that the residents do not face any inconvenience due to waterlogging during the monsoon. Duties have been assigned to employees in different areas, and they have been directed to complete their work before the rains, and present reports in regards to their respective areas. If any negligence is observed during the monsoon, action will be initiated against the

employees concerned.”

All drains are being cleaned in the area. Employees have been divided into teams and have been directed to expedite cleaning work.

Area residents had been asked to cooperate with the municipal council, and not dump garbage in the drains as it led to these choking and overflowing, he added.

The DMC also expressed concern over use of single-use plastic glasses during chhabeels, and said, “Plastic glasses are used for chhabeels in the city, and later left on the roads and dumped in the drains. This garbage becomes a cause of drains being blocked and the flow of water being restricted. People should avoid using plastic glasses. Teams of the Thanesar Municipal Council collect garbage door-to-door, and people should dump garbage in the vehicles of the municipal council only. The cooperation of the public is important in keeping the city clean and improving sanitation conditions.”
