Municipal Corporation makes special arrangements for Chhath Puja in Hisar town
Mayor takes stock of preparations
The Municipal Corporation, Hisar (MCH), is making special preparations for the Chhath Mahaparv in view of the migrants population residing in Hisar town.
Mayor Praveen Popli visited various spots to inspect the arrangements as the preparations are in full swing. The MCH spokesperson said the Mayor inspected various ghats of the canals in the town to review the arrangements and issued necessary directions to the departments concerned. The officials of the municipal corporation, Public Health Engineering Department, Irrigation Department and the traffic police are being roped in for the preparations. Mayor directed the officials to ensure that the devotees did not face any inconvenience during the Chhath Puja.
The MC and other departments are making arrangements for safety of the devotees, drinking water arrangements, lighting, and traffic management and cleanliness at the ghats. The Mayor said this festival was a symbol of Indian culture, conveying a message of faith, discipline, and helped in protecting the environment so it was the responsibility of the MC to make required arrangements for the migrant population hailing from Bihar where this festival was celebrated at a grand level.
The Mayor said the Chhath Puja was the greatest festival of Sun worship as devotees observed rigorous fast and offered prayers to the setting and rising sun. He said the festival was not only religiously significant but also promoted social unity and cleanliness.
Popli said the teams of the MC and other departments had already been deputed at the demarcated sites to finalise the arrangements. He said temporary toilets, drinking water tanks, additional lighting, and security forces would be arranged at the ghats.
The police have been asked to chalk special traffic plan around the ghats to avoid congestion and traffic jam on the roads. The volunteers will also be deployed on the roads where diversions were to be enforced to facilitate the movement of traffic, he said.
Popli urged the residents to maintain cleanliness avoid throwing puja materials into water sources and use dustbins provided by the municipal corporation.
The designated ghats for the puja includes: Azad Nagar Canal Chhath Ghat, Jai Shyam Vihar Nav Durga Temple, Chhath Puja Samiti Sector 27-28, Sector 1-4, Sati Mandir Barwala Road, and Jindal Park Mill Gate. The Mayor said this year, the Chhath Puja would be celebrated peacefully and grandly with the coordination of all departments as the preparations are nearly complete. "I hope that devotees will not face any inconvenience," said the Mayor.
