The MCYJ took this action as people living in the nearby areas were troubled by the chemical mixed water discharged from the factory. Besides, their houses were also getting damaged by high moisture content.

According to information, residents of the Chitta Hanuman Mandir road had complained to officials of the MCYJ about problems created by the factory.

After receiving complaints, on the instructions of MCYJ Commissioner Akhil Pilani, a team led by Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Deepak Sukhija and Building Inspector Rampal sealed the factory today. Duty Magistrate Naresh Bhardwaj also accompanied the civic body team.

Sukhija said a few months ago, residents of the Chitta Hanuman Mandir road had complained that a soap factory was set up in the residential area on the said road. He said people living in the nearby areas were troubled as chemical mixed water was discharged from the factory.

He further said at the same time, houses of the people living near factory were also getting damaged. “Walls are on the verge of collapse. Houses are getting damaged due to moisture. There is a danger of spreading diseases due to chemical-mixed water flowing out from the factory,” said ATP Deepak Sukhija.

He said vehicles filled with chemical drums passed through streets, posing a risk of accidents in the area.

On the basis of complaints of the people of this area, notices were sent to the factory owner by the MCYJ, but he did not shift the unit to some other place, the ATP said. Therefore, on the instructions of MCYJ Commissioner Akhil Pilani, the factory was sealed today,” Sukhija said.

Pilani said action would continue against factories running in the residential areas in future too. He said those, who had built commercial and other buildings without getting site map approved, should get the map passed from the MCYJ.
