Mustard procurement to begin from March 15
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to commence government procurement of mustard from March 15 instead of March 28, considering the early arrival of the crop in mandis.
Chairing a review meeting on mustard procurement for the rabi marketing season 2025-26, Saini emphasised the state government’s commitment to farmers' welfare. "Haryana is the first state where all crops are purchased at the minimum support price (MSP)," he said, instructing officials to ensure a hassle-free selling process for farmers.
The procurement will take place in 108 designated mandis across the state. Officials reported that mustard cultivation had increased this season, covering 21.08 lakh acres compared to the usual 17-20 lakh acres. The estimated production stands at 15.59 lakh metric tonnes.
The Central government has fixed the MSP of mustard at Rs 5,950 per quintal for this season. Saini directed procurement agencies, the Mandi Board and other departments to facilitate smooth purchasing operations.
