Chandigarh, October 2

NABARD, Haryana Regional Office, launched a sanitation literacy campaign on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Friday. It will run up to January 26.

Rajiv Mahajan, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Haryana, senior officers of the State-Level Bankers Committee and NGOs were present on the occasion.

The objective of the campaign is to create awareness and bring in behavioural changes in the rural masses regarding sanitation and cleanliness. It will also promote credit models and institutional lending by the banks for water sanitation and hygiene activities. The campaign is likley improve the credit flow to the rural sector.

In Haryana, 75 campaigns have been planned.

Mahajan said a new scheme of ‘Concessional Refinance’ was also launched by NABARD on Friday under which refinance would be given to banks, MFIs, NBFCs at meagre interest rate of 4 per cent for water, health and sanitation activities.
