Gurugram, January 5
The controversy surrounding namaz in the open continues to rage as local Hindu activists have got registered an FIR against ex-MP of the Rajya Sabha Mohammad Adeeb and two others at the Sector 40 police station here.
The former Member of Parliament (MP) Adeeb had moved the Supreme Court against namaz disruptions in Gurugram and now Hindu activists, Dinesh Bharti, Himmat and Vikky Kumar, approached the police, accusing him of disrupting communal harmony, trying to grab land and actions that could invite riots.
The activists said there were repeated attempts being made to grab land of locals. Complainant Dinesh Bharti said there was a piece of land near plot No. 449-450 in Sector 40 where ancestors of Mangtu Manihar were put to rest. The land was being allegedly declared a graveyard and a mosque was being demanded by them.
“While the administration allowed them six places for namaz and we have no issue, it’s land grabbing and encroachment of public land. They are misleading and trying to disrupt communal harmony,” added Bharti.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against ex-MP Mohammad Adeeb, Abdul Haseeb Kashmi and Mufti Mohammad Salim Kashmi under Sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 34 (common intention) of the IPC at the Sector 40 police station.
When contacting ex MP Mohammad Adeeb said that he just got to know about case and surprised.
“What is this case, I don’t know but we are ones talking of peace and communal harmony and people who seek publicity glorifying Godse are out to blame us. I have no worry and will face it”, Adeeb told The Tribune.
It may be noted that in December, last year Adeeb had moved the Supreme Court seeking contempt action against Haryana DGP and chief secretary for failing to comply with the court’s directions regarding measures to curb communal and violent sentiments that result in hate crimes.
The police start investigation into the matter and verifying the facts. “We are verifying the facts and action will be taken as per the law”, said inspector Kuldeep Dahiya, SHO, Sector 40 police station.
