Conceding that water released into the Gurugram canal was polluted in Delhi, Haryana Environment Minister Rao Narbir assured that cleaner water would soon start flowing due to the change of government in Delhi.

Jhajjar bus stand cleanup underway

Transport Minister Anil Vij assured the House that all necessary passenger facilities were being provided at Jhajjar bus stand. Responding to Jhajjar MLA Geeta Bhukkal, who highlighted the deplorable condition of the bus stand, he said: “Ever since her question was listed in the House, the local civic body has begun a ‘clean-up’ operation.”

Responding to a query by Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed on the final day of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha budget session, Narbir, without naming the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, took a jibe at it, saying: “The water in Delhi was so polluted that the public threw out the previous government.”

He said, “The Chief Minister also visited the site where Haryana’s water enters Delhi. We got it tested, and the water quality was satisfactory. We consider water clean if it is fit for birds, animals, and aquatic life to thrive.”

With a new BJP government in Delhi, he asserted that the water quality would improve. Aftab Ahmed insisted that farmers were forced to irrigate their fields with polluted water, which was degrading soil quality. He urged the formation of a monitoring committee to address the issue.

In response, Narbir assured the House that under the Yamuna Action Plan, the pollution in the river would be tackled by December 2027.

Congress MLA Kuldeep Vats raised concerns about excessive fines for overloaded vehicles carrying mining material. “Those with ‘setting’ in the Transport Department are allowed to ply unchecked, while others are heavily fined,” he alleged, naming a particular official.

Mines Minister Krishan Lal Panwar clarified that farmers were not required to pay royalties or permit fees for levelling their fields.

“No royalty or permit fee is being charged from farmers for land levelling, and the process of granting permission has been simplified,” he said.

Responding to a query from Shakti Rani Sharma, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda assured that vacancies in schools of her constituency would be filled at the beginning of the new session.

Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel informed the House that a community centre named ‘Dr Mangal Sen Memorial Bhavan’ would be constructed on 2,175 square metres in Rohtak.

“The site, near Sonepat Bus Stand, opposite Dhobi Ghat, will have stilt parking, a community centre on the first and second floors, and a library hall on the third floor,” he said.
