Haryana leaders expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, describing it as an irreparable loss to the nation and the political world. Dr Singh, hailed as a visionary statesman and pioneer of India’s economic reforms, passed away on Thursday, leaving behind a legacy of honesty, simplicity and dedication to public service.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed his sorrow, stating, “With the demise of Dr Manmohan Singh, the country has lost a visionary leader, a dedicated servant of the nation and a great economist.”

Saini praised Dr Singh’s remarkable journey from a humble village in Punjab to becoming the Prime Minister of India, a testament to his unwavering dedication and service. “Dr Singh’s simplicity, wisdom and significant contributions to India’s economic policies have left an indelible mark on the nation’s development,” he said.

The Chief Minister prayed for eternal peace for Dr Singh’s soul and strength for his bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda expressed his grief, calling Dr Singh the architect of India’s economic reforms. “His tenure marked India’s fastest economic progress and put the nation on a global path to success,” said Hooda.

Hooda highlighted Dr Singh’s contributions to Haryana’s development during his tenure. “Haryana benefitted immensely under his leadership with projects like the Fatehabad nuclear power plant, the Rohtak-Rewari and Jind-Sonepat railway lines and the Global Nuclear Power Research Centre in Jhajjar,” he said.

Calling Dr Singh’s demise an irreparable loss, Hooda emphasised that his contributions to the state and the nation would always be remembered.

Former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja, who served under Dr Singh for 10 years, shared her personal loss, describing him as a guiding elder. “His contributions to India’s economic reforms, including liberalisation and globalisation, have positively impacted millions of lives,” she said.

Selja praised Dr Singh’s humility, patience and selfless service, calling him a unifying figure in Indian politics. “He steered a financially struggling country onto a path of prosperity and economic growth, leaving behind an inspiring legacy,” she said.

Selja also noted his unparalleled parliamentary career, emphasising his gentleness and commitment to public service. “Dr Singh’s life was a reflection of honesty and simplicity and the nation will forever honour his contributions.”
