He was speaking at the district-level programme organised by the District Election Office on National Voters’ Day at the Mini-Secretariat on Saturday.

The ADC said in India, which is the world’s largest democracy, people have the right to use their vote as per convenience. Any person could easily transfer his vote from one place to another. Not exercising the right to vote caused loss to the country and it was the duty of a good citizen and a responsible person to contribute to the progress of the country by exercising his right to vote.

“Every voter should check whether his name is included in the voter list. According to the rules laid down by the Election Commission, only a person whose name is included in the voter list has the right to use his vote. Therefore, everyone should also get their name registered in the voter lists”, he added.

The ADC also administered oath to all officials and students present in the auditorium to maintain the democracy of the country and vote impartially.

Only after getting the vote, every person became a responsible citizen.
